HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro vs HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max in Kuwait: Camera, Battery and Price

The HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro 5G and HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max 5G are two premium flagship smartphones aimed at buyers who want advanced mobile photography, powerful performance, premium displays and fast charging in Kuwait.

At first glance, the two phones appear very similar. Both use the Kirin 9030S processor, include 12GB RAM, feature 6,000mAh batteries, support 5G connectivity and carry IP68/IP69 protection.

However, there are several important differences.

The Pura 90s Pro is the more compact and affordable option, while the Pura 90s Pro Max offers a larger display, twice the storage in the 990store configuration, a higher-resolution telephoto camera system and significantly faster wired and wireless charging.

So, which HUAWEI flagship should you buy in Kuwait?

Quick answer: Choose the HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro if you want flagship performance, strong cameras, a more compact design and excellent value at KWD 220. Choose the HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max if you want the larger 6.9-inch display, 512GB storage, 200MP telephoto camera and faster 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.

As of 7 August 2026, 990store offers the HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro 5G 12GB + 256GB for KWD 220, reduced from KWD 249.990, while the Pura 90s Pro Max 5G 12GB + 512GB is available for KWD 310, reduced from KWD 349.990.

Editorial Note: This is a specifications and market-based comparison designed to help customers make an informed purchase decision. Actual camera quality, battery endurance, charging time and performance may vary according to usage, settings and network conditions. Prices, colours and availability can change after publication.

Quick Verdict: Which HUAWEI Pura 90s Model Wins?

• Best value for money: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro
• Best camera hardware: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max
• Best telephoto camera: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max
• Best ultra-wide camera: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max
• Best charging: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max
• Best compact design: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro
• Best larger display: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max
• Best storage capacity: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max
• Battery capacity: Tie — both have 6,000mAh
• Core performance: Very close — both use Kirin 9030S and 12GB RAM

The biggest question is therefore not which phone is faster. Their core processing platform is very similar.

The real decision is whether the Pura 90s Pro Max's larger screen, upgraded cameras, 512GB storage and faster charging are worth the additional KWD 90.

Design and Size: Compact Pro vs Larger Pro Max

The Pura 90s Pro is the more compact and lighter phone of the two.

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro

• Height: 157.8mm
• Width: 74.5mm
• Thickness: 8.2mm
• Weight: Approx. 213.5g

Its smaller dimensions make it easier to handle, carry and use for customers who prefer a flagship phone without an oversized body.

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max

• Height: 164mm
• Width: 77.1mm
• Thickness: 8.1mm
• Weight: Approx. 230.5g

The Pro Max is taller and wider and weighs around 17g more. Interestingly, it is slightly thinner on paper despite its larger body.

Design Verdict

Choose the Pura 90s Pro if you prefer a more manageable flagship that is easier to carry and use.

Choose the Pura 90s Pro Max if you prefer a larger premium device and do not mind the additional size and weight.

Display Comparison: 6.6-inch vs 6.9-inch LTPO OLED

Both phones feature premium LTPO OLED displays with adaptive refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz.

This means both can automatically adjust their refresh rate depending on what is happening on screen, helping balance smooth scrolling with power efficiency.

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Display

• 6.6-inch LTPO OLED
• 2760 × 1256 resolution
• 460 ppi
• 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate
• 1.07 billion colours
• Up to 300Hz touch sampling rate

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max Display

• 6.9-inch LTPO OLED
• 2880 × 1308 resolution
• 460 ppi
• 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate
• 1.07 billion colours
• Up to 300Hz touch sampling rate

The Pro Max does not dramatically increase pixel density, but its larger 6.9-inch panel provides more screen space for videos, photography, social media, documents and gaming.

Display Verdict

Pura 90s Pro: Better for customers who prefer a smaller flagship.

Pura 90s Pro Max: Better for entertainment, photography, reading and users who simply prefer a larger screen.

Performance: Is the Pura 90s Pro Max Faster?

This is one area where the difference is much smaller than the price gap might suggest.

Both the Pura 90s Pro and Pura 90s Pro Max use the Kirin 9030S octa-core processor.

The specific versions sold by 990store also both feature 12GB RAM.

That means customers should not choose the Pro Max simply because they expect a major processor-performance upgrade.

990store Configurations

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro:

• Kirin 9030S
• 12GB RAM
• 256GB internal storage

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max:

• Kirin 9030S
• 12GB RAM
• 512GB internal storage

The key difference is storage rather than RAM or processor.

The Pro Max gives you twice the internal storage, which can be valuable for customers who capture large numbers of high-resolution photos and videos or keep many applications and files on their phone.

Neither model supports external memory expansion, making your initial storage decision especially important.

Performance Verdict

Core performance: Tie.

Storage winner: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max.

If 256GB is enough for you, the standard Pro delivers essentially the same processor and RAM for considerably less money.

---

Camera Comparison: The Biggest Reason to Buy the Pro Max

Photography is where the Pura 90s Pro Max separates itself most clearly from the standard Pro.

Both phones have sophisticated XMAGE camera systems with optical image stabilization, adjustable aperture on the main camera and approximately 4x optical telephoto zoom.

However, the Pro Max significantly upgrades both the ultra-wide and telephoto camera hardware.

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Camera

• 50MP Ultra Lighting main camera
• F1.4–F4.0 adjustable aperture
• Optical Image Stabilization
• 12.5MP ultra-wide camera
• 50MP Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto camera
• Telephoto OIS
• Approx. 4x optical zoom
• Up to 100x digital zoom
• True-to-Colour Camera 2.0
• 13MP autofocus selfie camera
• Up to 4K video recording

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max Camera

• 50MP Ultra Lighting HDR main camera
• F1.4–F4.0 adjustable aperture
• Optical Image Stabilization
• 40MP ultra-wide camera
• 200MP Ultra Large Sensor Telephoto camera
• Telephoto OIS
• Approx. 4x optical zoom
• Up to 100x digital zoom
• True-to-Colour Camera 2.0
• 13MP autofocus selfie camera
• Up to 4K video recording

What Does the 200MP Telephoto Camera Change?

The Pro Max's headline upgrade is its 200MP telephoto camera.

Although both phones offer approximately 4x optical zoom, the much higher-resolution telephoto sensor in the Pro Max provides significantly more imaging data on paper.

This gives the Pro Max stronger hardware potential for:

• Zoom photography
• Portraits
• Detailed distant subjects
• Telephoto macro photography
• Image cropping
• Travel and landscape photography

The Pro Max also upgrades the ultra-wide camera from 12.5MP to 40MP, making the camera difference about more than just zoom.

Camera Verdict

Winner on camera hardware: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max.

The standard Pura 90s Pro already has an impressive camera system, including a 50MP telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom.

However, photography enthusiasts who will actually use the telephoto and ultra-wide cameras have a strong reason to consider paying more for the Pro Max.

A definitive real-world image-quality verdict would require controlled side-by-side testing of both devices in the same scenes and lighting conditions.

---

Battery: Both Have the Same 6,000mAh Capacity

Unlike many standard-versus-Max comparisons, the Pura 90s Pro Max does not provide a larger battery capacity.

Both models use a 6,000mAh typical-capacity battery in the non-EU configuration.

Battery Capacity

• Pura 90s Pro: 6,000mAh
• Pura 90s Pro Max: 6,000mAh

This makes battery capacity essentially a tie.

Actual endurance can still differ because the Pro Max has a larger display, and battery life depends on brightness, 5G usage, camera activity, gaming, applications and other factors.

Battery Capacity Verdict

Winner: Tie.

Do not pay the extra KWD 90 expecting a larger battery. The Pro Max's power advantage comes from charging speed instead.

---

Charging Comparison: Pro Max Is Significantly Faster

Although both phones have the same 6,000mAh battery capacity, their charging specifications are very different.

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Charging

• 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge wired charging
• Up to 50W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max Charging

• 100W HUAWEI SuperCharge wired charging
• Up to 80W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge

The Pro Max therefore offers approximately 52% higher maximum rated wired charging power and 60% higher maximum rated wireless charging power than the standard Pro.

Compatible HUAWEI chargers and charging accessories are required to achieve the maximum supported charging rates.

Charging Verdict

Winner: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max.

If you regularly need to recharge quickly during a busy day, the faster charging system is one of the Pro Max's strongest advantages.

---

Software and Connectivity

Both models run EMUI 16 in the official regional specifications and offer a similar core software experience.

Both also support modern connectivity features including:

• 5G mobile connectivity
• Wi-Fi 7
• Bluetooth 6.0
• NFC
• USB Type-C
• NearLink
• Dual-band GPS and additional navigation systems
• Stereo audio with HUAWEI Histen

Because the software platform and processor are shared, customers should make their decision primarily around design, camera hardware, charging, storage and price.

---

Durability: IP68 and IP69 on Both

Both the HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro and Pura 90s Pro Max carry IP68 and IP69 splash, water and dust resistance ratings under controlled laboratory conditions.

This gives both devices strong protection specifications for premium smartphones.

However, water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and can decrease through normal wear. Liquid damage should never be treated as impossible simply because a phone has an IP rating.

Durability Verdict

IP rating: Tie.

Neither phone has a meaningful advantage based solely on their official IP68/IP69 ratings.

---

256GB vs 512GB: How Much Storage Do You Need?

The Pura 90s Pro sold by 990store includes 256GB storage, while the Pura 90s Pro Max provides 512GB.

Because neither model supports external memory cards, this difference deserves careful consideration.

256GB Is Likely Enough If You:

• Stream most of your music and video
• Regularly back up photos to cloud storage
• Do not record large amounts of 4K video
• Use a moderate number of apps
• Want to save money

512GB Makes More Sense If You:

• Take large numbers of high-resolution photos
• Record lots of 4K video
• Keep movies or media offline
• Install large games
• Plan to use the phone for several years
• Prefer not to manage storage frequently

Storage Verdict

Winner: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max.

But customers who know that 256GB is sufficient can save KWD 90 by choosing the standard Pura 90s Pro.

Which Offers Better Value for Money?

This is where the choice becomes interesting.

• 512GB storage instead of 256GB
• 6.9-inch display instead of 6.6-inch
• 40MP ultra-wide instead of 12.5MP
• 200MP telephoto instead of 50MP
• 100W wired charging instead of 66W
• 80W wireless charging instead of 50W

However, the Pro Max does not give you a larger battery, more RAM or a faster processor in the specific 990store configurations being compared.

Value Verdict

Best overall value: HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro.

At KWD 220, it delivers most of the core flagship experience for KWD 90 less.

HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro vs Pura 90s Pro Max: Final Verdict

The HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro and Pura 90s Pro Max share more in common than their names initially suggest.

Both give you the Kirin 9030S processor, 12GB RAM, a 6,000mAh battery, 120Hz LTPO OLED technology, 5G connectivity, EMUI 16 and IP68/IP69 protection.

That makes the Pura 90s Pro at KWD 220 particularly attractive for buyers who want flagship hardware at the lowest possible price.

The Pura 90s Pro Max at KWD 310 is not primarily a performance upgrade. Instead, it is a camera, storage, screen and charging upgrade.

Its 200MP telephoto camera, 40MP ultra-wide camera, 512GB storage, larger 6.9-inch screen, 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging are the main reasons to spend the additional KWD 90.

990store Specs-Based Recommendation

Choose the HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro for: Better value, compact size, lighter weight and flagship performance at a lower price.

Choose the HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max for: Serious mobile photography, 512GB storage, larger display and much faster charging.

If you mainly need an excellent premium smartphone for everyday use, photography and productivity, the Pura 90s Pro at KWD 220 offers excellent value.

If camera hardware is one of your highest priorities and you plan to use telephoto photography, large storage and fast charging extensively, the Pura 90s Pro Max justifies its KWD 90 premium much more easily.
